Hello everyone!
It’s been a minute since I posted on my beloved blog but with all the hustle/bustle of Christmas and applying for jobs, I have neglected this! Not to worry though as 2021 and the new year brings with it the chance to make resolutions. I haven’t decided on all of mine yet but I know certainly that one will be maintaining a regular posting schedule on my blog and potentially helping my mum launch her own small business!
My mum is an incredibly talented and creative person, a true Pisces. For years she has been complimented on how brilliantly she wraps gifts and styles our home, and I think the entrepreneurship of many during the pandemic has given her a real push to start her own little business.
We are still in the very early stages of planning what exactly it is she wants to sell and make, how to go about this and even what the name of the business will be. Of course, as I am building my marketing career, I jumped at the chance to help develop the logo, name, colour scheme and overall branding. I think this is a great and rare chance where the professional knows the client very well!
So a few months ago I signed up to Adobe Creative Cloud (a year long contract and NOT a monthly one as I recently found out) and I’ve been putting it to good use ever since. My mum is really inspired by Scandinavian décor, “hygge” living and minimalism. I took these concepts to create a logo and a mock company name which would feature as profile pictures and the like, as well as ink stamps on the brown or white paper bags she would sell her items in.
The black heart would be the main logo – with the pink and Tiffany blue tones appearing in the Spring/Summer time as the business adapts to seasonal stock and decoration.
I created the logos freehand on Adobe Illustrator, sketching the design with my MacBook Air trackpad. This was so much fun to design and I love tapping into my creative side when I get the chance. So the next step will be brand development and we’ll go from there…!
